Not sure what your personal brand is? Or maybe you do know, but the thought of sharing your personal story or everyday life makes you feel sick with fear. Or perhaps you want to share your personal brand but don’t know how?

In this article I am going to share with you how to discover your personal brand, why it is important to share it with your audience and how you can share it in a way  that feels comfortable to you.

What is My Personal Brand?

When you are an owner of a small business, your business brand is not just about the colours, font and logo you use when your business shows up on social media. It includes you! Your values and beliefs, the way you say things, your mission and the way you do business.

Are you consistent, reliable, clear with your message? Are you known for doing live videos, sharing tips or great customer service?

Do you share stories about your family, your hobbies or how you like to work?

These are all things that will make you stand out from other businesses in your industry.

Why is it so Important to Share your Personal Brand?

As already stated, sharing your personal brand will allow you to stand out. However, let me give you a truth bomb…

To make sales, you need to build relationships with your audience, particularly your ideal customers. To be able to make these relationships, you need to share your personal brand.

Read that again.

Remember people buy from people they know, like and trust.

What if Sharing Your Personal Brand Scares You?

I know it’s scary putting yourself out there. However, always remember that you are in control of what you let others know about you.

Choose what you share. Maybe you want to share your daily routines, stories about your family or pets or what you get up to on the weekend.

Inspire people by letting them know of your past struggles and how you overcame them. Tell people about both your personal and business journeys, as this will allow you to connect with your audience, however remember you only have to share what you feel ready or comfortable sharing.

Another truth bomb… Not everyone is going to like you! Some people will connect with you whilst others won’t, and that’s fine, these are not the people you want to be working with anyway.

I want you to also think of it another way. By not sharing your personal brand and story with the world, you are denying people the ability to connect with you and find a solution to their pain points or problems.

How to Share Your Personal Brand.

Start by listing ways in which you feel comfortable sharing your personal brand. This could be posts with images of you using your products, photos of yourself and your family, or you could do share photos from behind the scenes of your business.

Now think of ways to share your stories that might scare you a bit such as videos or going Live on your Facebook page.

You are going to start by sharing your personal brand in a way that you feel comfortable. Then slowly step by step, step out of your comfort zone and try new ways to share your stories. To do this successfully set dated and specific targets. For example, by the end of the month I will post 2 videos on my business page.

Where do I Start with Sharing My Personal Brand?

Over the next 5 days try answering each of the following questions and use your answers as content for your social media business platforms.

Who are you?

Why do you do what you do?

Give your audience a tip in relation to the industry in which you work.

What are your values or beliefs?

What are your favourite products/ services that you sell?

Answering these questions will allow you to share your personal brand with your audience, which will attract like minded people, hence your ideal clients. You will also be able to share your personality especially if you share your answers through a video post.

In this article I have shared with you how to discover your personal brand, why it is important to share it with your audience and how you can share it in a way  that feels comfortable to you.

I hope I have been able to inspire you to share your personal brand by showing you just how important it is to share ‘YOU’ with your audience, in order to build relationships, increase your visibility, engagement and ultimately boost sales in your business.
