What is an ideal client?  Why do I need an ideal client? Who is my ideal client? How do I find my ideal client?

Have you ever asked yourself any of these questions?

If so, great! You’re in the right place!

In this article I am going to go through these questions and explain the importance of finding your ideal client.

What?

Depending on your business an ideal client is either a person or another company or organisation that is your target customer, the person you want to sell your products or services to. They are the customers which find the most value in what you sell and will in return provide significant value to your business.

Why?

Why do you need an ideal client? You might think that you don’t. For example, if you sell handmade, eco-friendly soap you might think that your product is for everyone, after all everyone washes?

But if you try to target ‘everyone’ this will be quite a difficult job and will require many marketing strategies. However, if you can define one particular person, this won’t rule out anyone else from purchasing your product, it just means that your message can be clear because you know who you are talking to.

Who?

So, who is your ideal client? Who do you want to talk to?

Imagine your ideal client. Are they male or female? What is their name? How old are they? Where do they live? What type of house do they live in? Do they have children? What is their disposable income? What are their likes/ dislikes? What are their values and beliefs and what is important to them? You get the idea…

Create a profile for your ideal client and imagine that you are speaking to them every time you write a post. Think about their problems or pain points and how you can solve them?

I will share a list of questions at the bottom of this blog.

How?

So, you’ve discovered who your ideal clients are and you know what you want to say to them. But how are you going to find them?

Next you need to discover where they hang out. What social media platforms? Which pages or groups. When you discover this, you will be able to chat to them and build relationships. Don’t go straight in and try to sell to them, this just annoys people. Build a relationship, become part of the group, learn from their discussions and contribute, and when the time is right, offer your services.

I hope this article has been able to answer your questions on ideal clients. If you would like further advice, send me a message for a friendly chat to see how I can help.
