Have you ever wondered how outsourcing parts of your business works? How can someone write your content if they don’t know your business? How will they make the content sound like you? What if you don’t like the work that someone does for you? Who posts the content to your social media platform? Is it worth the money?

In this article I am going to attempt to alleviate some of the most popular worries business owners have when outsourcing their social media content to a copy writer. I will do this by explaining how I personally work with clients in order to fulfil their social media content requirements.

It can be a big step to outsource parts of your business to someone else, especially if you have worked very hard to create the business yourself. The key is to find the right person or company to outsource your work to. Someone who shares the same values as you, someone whose writing and content style you like, and feel could also fit within your business.

When you feel you have found a copy writer that maybe suitable, don’t be afraid to contact them to ask questions. They will also like to ask questions to make sure that they can carry out the task you require them to do.

Getting to Know You.

The copy writer will then want to get to know all about you and your business. The more information you can give them, the better they can get to know you and your business. An initial questionnaire is usually carried out and it is really worth spending the time on sharing as much information as you can. Imagine your copy writer as part of your team rather than an outsider snooping on what you do.

It is important to carry on a good line of communication between your business and your copy writer, with weekly or monthly catch ups and decide on the best way to contact each other such as email, text or Whatsapp, for all other times for quick queries.

Not Happy?

Your copy writer will then complete the work you require and send it to you for review. This maybe done on a weekly, fortnightly, or monthly basis, depending on what you both decide. You will have an agreed time to suggest any alterations or changes. The work can be passed back and fore until you are happy. However, if you have provided enough information in the initial questionnaire for your copy writer then there should be very little if anything at all to change.

Who's Posting?

You can then arrange with your copy writer whether they or yourself will post the content onto your social media platform. If you have a VA you could even get them to do it for you.

Is it Worth it?

A lot of business owners may also question is it worth the money to hire a copy writer to do a job which they can do themselves. I see a lot of small businesses posting great content, only then to suddenly go quiet. They return a couple of weeks later and apologise to their audience for being away and neglecting their social media accounts, as they’ve had a lot of orders to catch up on.

Unfortunately, it’s a vicious circle, you need to be consistent with your posting in order to engage with your audience and build relationships so that they will buy from you.
As a result you get busy with orders and struggle to find the time to create and post your social media content, therefore missing out on potentially more customers!!!

It doesn’t have to be that way! Hiring a copy writer will allow your social media presence to be consistent, while engaging with your audience and saving you time, whilst you get on with a more consistent flow of orders.

So hiring a copy writer in my opinion is definitely worth the investment.

What about Results?

It is suggested that you give your copy writer a minimum of 3 months before you decide to carry on with their services or not. They will need time to settle in and get to know your business just as a new employee would.
