Do you remember the first time you realised that you wanted to own your own business? Can you remember the moment of realisation? That light bulb moment? The moment you quit your 9 to 5 job or the excitement and anxiety of your first customer?

Let me tell you about my realisation…

That was the moment that everything changed for me.

It was the moment I had been waiting for. All the painful, hard work had finally paid off.

I had fought the snake like politics of the office. I had survived the spiteful whispers which could have quite easily stabbed me like a knife and halted my determination.

I was strong and determined even though on the inside I felt tired and weak. I kept going and finally I had made it. It was now in my grasp; I was holding it tight.

But it felt wrong. It didn’t feel how I had imagined, how I had longed for it to feel.

I felt disappointed. Angry that I had put myself through the obstacle course, which they set up for me time after time again.

Knowing that I could do it. But even if I was the best and outshone everyone else, they would never let me win.

But something happened, I had caught them off guard. I had got the promotion I dreamed about.

But I no longer wanted it.

I had proven I could do it! But now it left a sour taste in my mouth. It felt like an unwanted gift I had to be grateful for.

From that moment I made the decision. I would never be treated like this again. I was going to be appreciated, respected, and valued.

I left that job and never looked back.

Yes, it has left a scar, but to me it’s a positive reminder of my worth, strength and capabilities.

It was the push I needed to be my own boss.

Can you relate? Do you have a similar story?

It’s such a wonderful feeling when you realise that you no longer have to be unhappy in your job. Whether you switch to a new one or create your own business, please know that someone else will appreciate you and treat you as you deserve to be treated.
