Does your child regularly forget how to spell certain words? Do they like to use a variety of words but often get brain freeze when writing?
In this blog I am going to share with you a fantastic writing hack, which even I use when writing my own books.
So, to start off you’ll need a notebook; big, small, thick, thin it doesn’t matter. My favourite type of notebook is a relatively small book about A5 in size which is covered in either cats or glitter or both! You choose your own style.
Your notebook is better if it’s lined, but this is not essential. I would also suggest a minimum of 26 pages.
Next label each page with letters of the alphabet; A, B, C, D, E and so on.
You have now created your own word bank!!!
All you have to do now is fill your book with wonderful new words or those nasty words which are a bit tricky to spell.
Then the next time you struggle to spell one of those words you’ll be able to find it in your book. Easy peasy!
Plus, if it’s a new word you’re struggling to spell, ask an adult for the correct spelling or look it up in a dictionary, you’ll be able to add this word to your book for next time.
This book is also fantastic for inspiration. When I hear or read lovely new words, I like to write them in my word book so that I remember to use them in my next story.
Another fantastic tip is to test yourself with these spellings, maybe try to learn to spell a new word every day. Have fun!
